According to USDA Organic standard, organic agriculture produces products using methods that preserve the environment and avoid most synthetic materials, such as pesticides and antibiotics. Through the aroozoo experience, we are happy and proud to bring you passion-made quality organic Virgin Coconut Oil. Our Organic Virgin Coconut Oil is harvested & made from organically grown coconuts in a plantation since a century ago. Our oil is good source of Medium Chain Triglycerides, which are absorbed directly in the liver and being absorbed more efficiently than Long Chain Fatty Acids (LCFA), thus aroozoo Virgin Coconut Oil is used up as energy quickly instead of being stored as fat in body.

aroozoo Virgin Coconut Oil is suitable for human consumption in its natural state. aroozoo Virgin Coconut Oil has natural aroma & mild flavour.

Did you know that breast milk contains lauric acid and is full of nutrients? This helps to build immunity to fight diseases and keep babies healthy. Lauric acid is the predominant type of Medium Chain Triglycerides found in mother’s milk and in aroozoo Virgin Coconut Oil.

When lauric acid in both breast milk and coconut oil are consumed, it is transformed into monoluarin, the actual compound responsible for helping to strengthen the immune system.

The American Journal of Clinical Nutrition published a study showing that lactating mothers who eat a diet rich in coconut oil and other coconut products, have significantly increased levels of lauric acid in their breast milk. Aside from Virgin Coconut Oil, breast milk is the only other natural source that contains such a high concentration of lauric acid.

We are happy to say that aroozoo Virgin Coconut Oil contains about 50% of lauric acid. Coconut Oil is the only most abundant natural source of lauric acid available on earth today.

When lauric acid is present in the body, it is converted into monolaurin, a monoglyceride compound which exhibits antiviral, antimicrobial, antiprotozoal and antifungal properties. Monolaurin destroys the lipid-coated viruses like herpes, the measles, influenza, hepatitis C and HIV, by binding to the lipid-protein envelope of the virus, it thereby prevents it from attaching and entering the host cells, making infection and replication impossible. Researchers in the Philippines have confirmed that lauric acid does have an anti-viral effect and are effective for treating HIV/AIDS .

As a keynote speaker in 2001 at the 36th Annual Conference of the Asian Pacific Coconut Community, Dr Mary Enig noted that lauric acid represents about 50 percent of the fatty acids in coconut fat, which is very good to convert into monolaurin in the human body. Monolaurin is used by our metabolism system to destroy a number of viruses and other undesirable organisms. Monolaurin also does not appear to have an adverse effect on desirable digestive bacteria.

In Virgin Coconut Oil, the Medium Chain Triglycerides (MCT) contains 6 – 12 carbon chains (C6 – Caproic Acid;   C8 – Caprylic Acid;   C10 – Capric Acid and C12 – Lauric Acid.)

Fractionated MCT Oil, often just called “MCT oil”, can be confusing for some people since MCT is also found in virgin coconut oil. Virgin Coconut Oil is natural. Fractionated MCT oil is manufactured oil, not natural. Fractionated MCT Oil is a byproduct of coconut oil after the lauric acid (the most valuable component of MCT) has been removed by industrial process called fractionation. Such MCT oil does not contain all the natural fatty acids as mentioned above, whereas Virgin Coconut Oil does. Virgin Coconut Oil contains about 50% of lauric acid (C12), and lauric acid is linked to many health benefits such as antimicrobial, antioxidant, energy boost, etc. However, by fractionation, lauric acid is removed to become MCT oil (a.k.a Fractionated MCT Oil). Even if lauric acid remains present, only an insignificant amount is left in fractionated MCT oil. So lauric acid is found in Virgin Coconut Oil, while it is not found in fractionated MCT oil. As such, fractionated coconut oil may not be better than Virgin Coconut Oil since lauric acid, a most important ingredient has been removed.

Oil pulling is a type of Ayurvedic practice that dates back more than 2,000 years. It is an easy daily practice to rapidly improve oral health. Scientists found that by using coconut as oil pulling can stop the growth of Streptococcus bacteria – a major cause of tooth decay. Coconut oil has been shown to prevent Streptococcus mutans, an acid-producing bacterium that commonly inhabits in the mouth and that causes tooth decay.

aroozoo Virgin Coconut Oil contains about 50% lauric acid, helps to strengthen and support you body’s immune system to fight against the yeast fungus to cure yeast infection. Sugar is the apprarent source of growing fungal yeast. Virgin Coconut Oil when consumed, can act as a sugar substitute to cut down the primary food source to the growing fungal yeast in your system. Coconut oil is an antioxidant and effective agent in killing off the excess yeast and other fungal overgrowth in the body. Studies have shown that coconut oil can destroy the structure of yeast cells, controlling the itch and irritation and reducing inflammation in the infected area. The immunity of the body also improves because of the virgin coconut oil intake.

When Virgin Coconut Oil is consumed, it quickly gets absorbed in the liver and converted to energy use. From a study on the effects of dietary coconut oil, result of the study appears to show that dietetic supplementation with virgin coconut oil does not cause dyslipidemia (an abnormal amount of lipids in the blood e.g. cholesterol and/or fat.). It also seems to promote a loss in weight in the group with abdominal obesity.

There have been various perceptions that the effect of consuming coconut oil even in moderation is entirely bad for LDL. There is an article on a double blind study that puts coconut oil and soybean oil to a comparative test. In 12-weeks, the study showed the group using coconut oil presented with an increased level of HDL, a decrease LDL/HDL ratio and a reduced waist circumference or abdominal obesity.

Coconut oil continues to receive a lot of attention on its health benefits from advocates such as Dr Mary Newport and Dr Mary Enig. In an article by Dr Mary T. Newport M.D., she used Virgin Coconut Oil on Steve Newport, her husband, who suffers from Alzheimer’s condition, noted evident improvements seen on Steve’s Clock Test in 37 days. A research at the University of Oxford, stated that ketones plays an important role in brain health, and supports Dr Newport’s theory on the idea of boosting ketones, found in the coconut oil, that can see the cognitive functions improve in the brain.

RBD or Refined, Bleached & Deodorised Coconut Oil :

Started around 1908 – Derived from copra, sun-dried or smoked-dried coconut meat. It is yellow and often results in contaminants. Oil is extracted and further processed by refining, bleaching and deodorising (RBD) in order to be fit for human consumption. By this time, it does not contain tocopherol (Vitamin E). It is odourless and tasteless.

RBD is processed from copra.

VCO or Virgin Coconut Oil :

Started around 2000 – Derived from fresh coconut meat. Processed under strict sanitary conditions. Purest form of virgin coconut oil is snowy white or water clear in colour. Contains natural Vitamin E, fit for human consumption without further processing with chemicals or refining. No hydrogenation, unlike some poly or mono unsaturated oil. Has mild aroma and flavour but depending on production quality.

VCO is processed from fresh coconut meat.

Thus, Virgin Coconut Oil is obviously not the same as Refined, Bleached & Deodorised Coconut Oil.

APCC is the Association for the Asian and Pacific Coconut Community. In the APCC standard guide for Virgin Coconut Oil, it states in point #9 that labelling should only be “Virgin Coconut Oil”. APCC does not mention anything about extra virgin coconut oil. There is no such technical classification and the addition of the word “extra” carries no scientific meaning. Therefore, in our aroozoo experience, we will only say “Virgin Coconut Oil” for our oil.
